The AEW World Championship is the first-tier championship title for men in the WWE E-Fed federation on Wednesday Night Dynamite; the television show of their second promotion All Elite Wrestling. The title was introduced at NXT Takeover: Respect on October 27, 2021. The inaugural champion is Mason Wolfe who won the championship in a Fatal Four Way match at AEW Revolution.
A tournament was announced on the November 10th episode of Dynamite where the winner will challenge Miro for the championship on a special episode of Dynamite: Winter is Coming on December 15th, 2021. On the November 17, 2021 episode of Dynamite both Juice Robinson and Ethan Page would be counted out in their first round matchup, followed by Mason Wolfe defeating Brian Pillman Jr to advance to the second round. The third match of the tournament saw Jungle Boy and Daniel Garcia ended in a time-limit draw. Tony Khan would then reveal that since Ethan Page and Juice Robinson had both been counted out then they were eliminated from the tournament, meaning that Jungle Boy and Daniel Garcia would both advance to the second round, before revealing that Jungle Boy would face the winner of Edge and Dalton Castle while Garcia would face Wolfe in the second round after a coin flip decided it. Mason Wolfe would defeat Garcia while Jungle Boy defeated Edge with the two advancing to the finals that will take place on the December 1st, 2021 episode of Dynamite.
