Halloween Havoc (2020) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It will take place on October 18, at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. It will be the tenth annual in WWE's production lineage for the Halloween Havoc event. It will feature talent from the Raw brand and will be the first Raw exclusive PPV since the WWE Draft.
Background[]
Halloween Havoc will feature professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that played out on WWE's primary television program, Raw. Wrestlers portrayed heels or faces as they followed a series of events that built tension, and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.
In May 2020 it was revealed by Triple H that the brand split would be returning and both Raw and SmackDown would have their own separate rosters. It was also revealed that the brand split would officially go into effect following the Unforgiven PPV and that leading up to it Superstars could appear on both shows to wrap up the current ongoing storylines. That would later be extended to the SummerSlam PPV on August 30th. On the September 7th, 2020 episode of Raw, Triple H would reveal that Penelope Ford would defend her Women's Championship against Mariah May on the September 21st episode of Raw where the winner will go onto defend the title against Mr. and Mrs. Madness Winner, Lacey Evans at Halloween Havoc. Triple H would also reveal that new Intercontinental Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman would defend his championship against Adam Cole on the September 14th, 2020 episode of Raw with the winner of that match going on to defend their title against Keith Lee at Halloween Havoc, before finally revealing that WWE Champion, Kenny Omega would defend his WWE Championship against Jake Anderson on the September 21st, 2020 episode of Raw with the winner going on to defend their title against the winner of a #1 Contenders tournament involving, Seth Rollins, Jimmy Havoc, Jay White, Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler, Jimmy Jacobs, Roderick Strong and Tyler Breeze.
On the September 14th, 2020 episode of Raw, it would be revealed that Mariah May was leaving the company and therefore wouldn't be challenging for the Women's Championship as originally advertised, before she was attacked by Vanessa Borne and the rest of Rated-V Enterprises. That same night, Roderick Strong, Jay White, Randy Orton and Jimmy Jacobs would all win their respective matches and advance to the next round of the #1 Contendership Tournament. Later in the night Triple H would attempt to announce who the next #1 Contender was for the championship and who would face Penelope Ford a week later, however he was interrupted by Becky Lynch before he had a chance to reveal that. In the main event Adam Cole would defeat Maxwell Jacob Friedman to win the Intercontinental Championship despite interference from both Undisputed Era and The Deadly Alliance and will in fact go onto defend his championship against Keith Lee at Halloween Havoc. It would be revealed on WWE.com that Britt Baker would replace Mariah May and challenge Penelope Ford for the Women's Championship for the following week's Raw where the winner would still go on to defend their title against Lacey Evans. On the September 21, 2020 episode of Raw, Orton would defeat Roderick Strong while Jay White defeated Jimmy Jacobs with both men making it to the finals of the tournament. Baker would defeat Ford to win the Women's Championship, later that night Omega would defeat Anderson via countout to retain the WWE Championship. A week later, Randy Orton would defeat Jay White in the finals of the Tournament to become the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. Afterwards Omega would come out and reveal that their match would be a Cosplay Street Fight. On Twitter, Triple H would reveal that Adam Cole would defend his Intercontinental Championship in a Last Ride match against Keith Lee, while Britt Baker would defend her Women's Championship against Lacey Evans inside Hell in a Cell.
On the October 5, 2020 episode of Raw after Seth Rollins defeated Jimmy Havoc, he would be attacked by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon after Rollins had come to the aid of Becky Lynch a week earlier. Becky would make the save for Rollins before Triple H revealed that they would face off at Halloween Havoc in a Body Bag Mixed Tag Team match. That same night it was revealed that Vanessa Borne & Aliyah would receive a rematch for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship against Bayley and Tenille Dashwood.
