Maryse Ouellet (born January 21, 1983) is a French Canadian glamour model, semi-retired professional wrestler, and businesswoman, better known simply as Maryse.
After spending years modelling, including winning Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada in 2003, Maryse was hired by WWE in 2006, after she participated in the WWE Diva Search competition. Despite her elimination, she was sent to WWE's developmental facility, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in Louisville, Kentucky. She signed a deal with WWE in August 2006 and was assigned to OVW for wrestling training, where she made her ring debut in December 2006. She appeared in vignettes on WWE television. During this time, she continued working at OVW, but was later transferred to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), another WWE developmental facility, to further her training.
In March 2008, Maryse appeared on SmackDown, competing in a swimsuit competition. Three months later she made her television in-ring debut, before moving to RAW. In May 2009, Maryse captured her first title with the company, the WWE Women's Championship. After returning to SmackDown, Maryse later win the WWE Divas Championship and held it for seven months, the longest reign in the championship's history. After that Maryse would be moved back to the RAW brand where she would go on to capture the WWE Women's Championship a second time in May 2010. She would later win the 2012 Divas Royal Rumble, earning herself a shot at the WWE Women's Championship at Wrestlemania 28 which she would go on to win for a third time, holding it for six months; the longest reign in the championship's history.
Professional wrestling career[]
World Wrestling Entertainment (2009–2020)[]
The stunning Maryse first broke onto the scene as a finalist in the 2006 Diva Search competition. A crafty and determined athlete from the start, she rapidly became one of the top competitors in WWE.
Using her wiles, along with her fierce French Kiss DDT finishing maneuver, Maryse rose through the ranks and created an impressive in-ring resumé. In addition to becoming Divas Champion in her first title match, the Montreal, Quebec battler held that prize for 209 days in a single reign — making her one of the longest-tenured Divas Champions in history...
Following her Divas Championship loss in the Spring of 2010 Maryse was traded to RAW and immediately made an emphatic impact by winning the Women's Championship at Backlash from then Champion, Michelle McCool. Although the forgettable reign only last two weeks it solidified Maryse as a main stay on RAW.
Later that year the French-Canadian set her sights on a new prize. Not a title, but a partner. Lacey Von Erich - a beautiful blonde who wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and allowed herself to be easily manipulated by Maryse for the Sexiest of Sexy's benefits. The duo soon established themselves as Team Sexy and went on to win the Divas tag team titles later that year. Holding the belts for a record setting 368 days.

Once bored with Team Sexy, Maryse set her sights on the Women's Championship once again. She vowed to win the 2012 Women's Royal Rumble and remarkably did so, following through on her promise - the stage was set for Maryse to face multi time Women's Champion, Mar at WrestleMania for the Women's Championship - in what would turn out to be Mar's final match, Maryse defeated the legendary Diva and claimed her second Women's Championship.
Unlike her previous win Maryse went on to have a long and successful title reign throughout the Summer of 2012 before eventually losing the belt to Cookie.
What followed was several years of successful title reigns, and domination of the Women's Division until her eventual retirement and induction into the 2015 Hall of Fame. Regardless of what people might think of Maryse, no one can deny the impact she had on the Women's Division throughout her reign of terror between 2009 - 2015.
