NXT Takeover: London was a professional wrestling event produced by WWE, featuring their developmental branch WWE NXT, that took place on November 5, 2016 in The SSE Arena of Wembley, London, England.

It was a special episode of WWE NXT and the fourth live professional wrestling event streamed online via the WWE Network. It was the first live special to take place not only outside the United States but also outside the Full Sail Arena in Winter Park, Florida.

Background[]

NXT Takeover: London featured professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines that played out on the WWE NXT television program. Wrestlers portrayed faces (heroes) or heels (villains) as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a match or a series of matches.

On Facebook after the September 24, 2016 episode of NXT, William Regal despite having been against making the match for the last several weeks announced the main event of Takeover: London would be Splash Anderson defending his NXT Championship against Mason Wolfe after weeks of Wolfe demanding the match while also attacking Anderson as well as Anderson's brother which happened at Takeover: Respect before attacking Anderson's girlfriend while Splash was handcuffed to the ring ropes. Anderson himself would approach William Regal on two separate occasions asking for the match to be made only for it to be denied by Regal. The final straw was Wolfe costing Anderson a match against SmackDown Superstar, Samuel Shaw. On the October 5, 2016 episode of NXT, a tag team match will take place between Anderson and Wolfe and their respective partners, Leva Bates and Sunshine where the winners of the match will get the opportunity to choose the match stipulation for Takeover: London. On the October 15, 2016 episode of NXT after Sunshine pinned Saška Milanović during a tag team match earlier in the night, William Regal announced that the scheduled NXT Women's Championship match between Milanović and Arabella Shaef would become a Triple threat match with Sunshine being added to the match, before revealing that if Alexa Bliss can defeat Milanović on the following episode of NXT she'll be added to the match as well to make it a Fatal Four Way.
