NXT TakeOver: Vengeance |
NXT TakeOver: Vengeance is an upcoming professional wrestling event produced by WWE, featuring their third brand WWE NXT, that will take place on March 31, 2021 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
It will be a special episode of WWE NXT and the twelfth live professional wrestling event streamed online via the WWE Network as well as on the USA Network.
Background[]
NXT TakeOver: Vengeance will feature professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines that played out on the WWE NXT television program. Wrestlers portrayed faces (heroes) or heels (villains) as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a match or a series of matches.
On the February 24, 2021 episode of NXT, Rhea Ripley would defeat Scarlett in a #1 Contenders match for the NXT Women's Championship. Earlier in the night, Jonathan Coachman revealed that Sting would not be returning to his post as NXT General Manager and that Coachman would be taking over and thus the investigation into Sting's attacker was subsequently dropped. On the March 10, 2021 episode of NXT, Mason Wolfe made his return to NXT after having not been seen since Takeover: In Your House with a new darker and menacing look having undergone a transformation thanks to Scarlett and would reveal himself as the person behind the video revealing that Tessa had cheated on Takeover and used a recording of Wolfe uttering the words: "I Quit". Both Mason and Scarlett made it known that they weren't finished with Blanchard and urged Jonathan Coachman to do the right thing, before Wolfe would physically threaten Coachman holding him in the air as blood emerged from his mouth. Later that night, both Wolfe and Scarlett would interfere in Tessa's match against Mark Haskins, where Wolfe would spit a blood mist into Tessa's eyes blinding her and allowing Haskins to pick up the win. That same night it would be revealed that Wolfe and Haskins would face each other in a #1 Contenders match on the March 17th, 2021 episode of NXT to determine who would face Tessa at Takeover.
