Background[]
New Year's Revolution featured professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on WWE's primary television program, Raw. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension, and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
After Team UK/Ireland won the Wrestling World Cup all members earned spots inside the Elimination Chamber match at New Year's Revolution along with WWE Champion Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship. A second Elimination Chamber is scheduled to take place as well with Maryse Ouellet defending her WWE Women's Championship against Paige, Ashley Massaro, Eva Marie, Traci Patterson and Cameron. On the December 15, 2014 episode of Raw, Ashley earned the final spot within the chamber. That same night after Magnus was brutally attacked backstage it was revealed that he wouldn't be able to compete at New Year's Revolution therefore it was announced that he would be replaced inside the Chamber by a mystery entrant who won't be revealed until that night.
It was also revealed that Enzo Amore would be defending his WWE Hardcore Championship at the PPV as well against an unknown opponent along with Jake Anderson defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship against an unknown challenger after successfully retaining his championship against Finn Bálor on the final Raw of 2014. Another match that was made official on the final Raw of 2014 was Dolph Ziggler against CM Punk who have been feuding since September. A contract signing was held that same night and the two men ended up getting into a brawl and it was later confirmed that the two would face in a No Holds Barred Shoot Fight. Adding onto that match being made official, Danielle Moinet against Alicia Fox was also made official for the PPV.
