Royal Rumble (2014) is the ninth annual in WWE's production lineage for the Royal Rumble event. It will take place on February 23, 2014 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It will be the second WWE pay-per-view in the 2014 line-up. The main event will be the annual Royal Rumble match.

Royal Rumble featured professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that played out on WWE's television programs. Wrestlers portrayed heels or faces as they followed a series of events that built tension, and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.
It was revealed on RAW that Matt Hardy would defend the WWE Championship against his brother, Jeff, in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. Along with that match being announced it was also revealed that Stacy Keibler would defend her WWE Women's Championship against the #1 Contender, Angel Williams. The annual 30 Diva Royal Rumble was also announced along with two other matches for Smackdown where Dolph Ziggler will defend his WWE United States Championship against Sin Cara and Sterling James Keenan will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against former champion, Chris Jericho who defeated Brad Maddox in a #1 Contenders match to earn his rematch after losing the championship to Keenan at New Year's Revolution.
Another match that was made was for Lian Cortes' WWE Divas Championship where she will defend the title against Scarlett Bordeaux.
The participants for the Royal Rumble match were announced for RAW: Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Ciaran O'Donnell, Daniel Bryan, Jake Anderson, John Cena, John Morrison, Justin Gabriel, Nick Mitchell, Randy Orton, Shane Helms, The Rock, Chris Hero, Stevie Richards. Those announced for Smackdown were: Bray Wyatt, Christopher Daniels, Chuck Taylor, Dolph Ziggler, Heath Slater, Jimmy Jacobs, Johnny Gargano, Kevin Steen, Sin Cara, Travis Kooper, Tyler Chandler. There is still one more spot available which will be revealed at the Royal Rumble event.
