The Undisputed Era (stylized as The Undisputed ERA) was a professional wrestling stable that performed on their Raw brand consisting of Jake Anderson, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong.
History[]
Origins[]
In 2010, Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly debuted in the Ring of Honor promotion as a tag team that would later be named "Future Shock", but the two split up in 2012 and began a longstanding rivalry against each other. In December 2012, O'Reilly formed a new tag team with Bobby Fish known as reDRagon, with the two winning the ROH World Tag Team Championship on three occasions, while Cole would form his own stable in 2014 known as The Kingdom. In the summer of 2015, reDRagon entered into a feud with The Kingdom, and began teaming with Cole after he seemingly had a falling out with his teammates and left the group. However, Cole's exit from The Kingdom was revealed to be a hoax when he attacked O'Reilly during his match for the ROH World Championship at All Star Extravaganza VII on September 18. Their reignited rivalry continued until January 2017, when O'Reilly left Ring of Honor in hopes of signing with WWE. Cole and Fish would follow suit, with Cole leaving in May and Fish in June. During their years in Ring of Honor, Cole, O'Reilly and Fish each had several matches against, and occasionally teaming with, fellow ROH wrestler Roderick Strong. On the July 12, 2017 episode of NXT, Fish made his NXT debut, losing to Aleister Black. On the August 2 episode of NXT, O'Reilly made his NXT debut, also losing to Black. Upon signing with WWE, Adam Cole would go onto form a WWE version of the Bullet Club that included Jake Anderson, AJ Styles along with Paige and Kenny Omega.
Original incarnation (2019)[]
Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly would initially form the Undisputed Era in December 2019. All three men would be involved in high profile matches at Cyber Sunday with Fish and O'Reilly in a #1 Contenders match for the WWE Tag Team Championships while Cole challenged for the WWE Championship. Fish and O'Reilly would manage to win their match, however Adam Cole came up short in his bid to win the WWE Championship with Tyler Breeze winning the match. At the following PPV, Fish and O'Reilly would receive their championship match against Jon Moxley and Sami Callahan but would come up short. Later that night all three men were involved in the Royal Rumble match, with Cole actually eliminating Fish and O'Reilly. Cole would go onto win the match after last eliminating the Rock and would celebrate with the Undisputed Era. Both Fish and O'Reilly would later leave the company unexpectedly following the Royal Rumble, leaving Adam Cole all on his own.
Second incarnation (2020)[]
After Fish and O'Reilly left the company, Adam Cole would go back to being a singles competitor and continue his feud with Tyler Breeze. On the March 16th, 2020 Raw Supershow, Cole would interfere in the WWE Championship match between Breeze and Jimmy Jacobs costing Jacobs the match and allowing Breeze to retain the title making their match at WrestleMania official. Two weeks later on the March 30th, 2020 episode of Raw, Cole would realign himself with Jake Anderson – whom had been a former Bullet Club teammate during Cole's run with the Bullet Club upon his signing. The two men would reform Undisputed Era with the just the two of them after Anderson had proposed that he help Cole defeat Breeze at WrestleMania while Cole helped him win the Money in the Bank briefcase at the event. After losing a tag team match to Breeze and Jacobs, Cole and Anderson would attack Breeze from behind as Jacobs would look on and appeared to abandon Breeze before returning and brawling with both Cole and Anderson, coming to Breeze's aid.
Anderson would be unsuccessful in winning the Money in the Bank Ladder match at WrestleMania 36 despite interference from Adam Cole as well as Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly who made their return thus fully reuniting the Undisputed Era. Later in the night, Anderson would also be unsuccessful in helping Adam Cole win the WWE Championship from Tyler Breeze. On the following episode of Raw, Anderson would defeat Velveteen Dream in the first round of the Gold Experience Tournament. Earlier in the night Anderson along with the rest of Undisputed Era attacked Jimmy Jacobs backstage, injuring him, before claiming that they would continue to attack Superstars at random until the entire locker room took them seriously. On the premiere episode of SmackDown on FOX, Undisputed Era would attack Daniel Bryan injuring him much like they had Jimmy Jacobs. They would also attack Seth Rollins a couple weeks later, putting him on the shelf.
On the May 18, 2020 episode of Raw, Anderson would be eliminated from the Gold Experience tournament losing to Kip Sabian, while Adam Cole would also be eliminated losing to Chris Masters. Anderson along with the rest of Undisputed Era would begin feuding with Johnny Gargano after they offered him a spot as a member of Undisputed Era only for him to turn them down, resulting in Undisputed Era attacking him. On the May 25, 2020 episode of Raw, Undisputed Era would attempt to interfere in the Fatal Four Way Steel Cage match for the Intercontinental Championship involving Johnny Gargano, only for him to throw Adam Cole off of the cage and onto the other members of Undisputed Era. Gargano would go onto win the match and the Intercontinental Championship. On the June 1, 2020 episode of Raw, Anderson and Cole defeated Roman Reigns and Andrade to become the #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Later that night the Undisputed Era would call out Johnny Gargano and would begin brawling with him, managing to outnumber him before Jimmy Jacobs would make his return after being put on the shelf for over a month by Undisputed Era, saving Gargano only for the latter to reject the help and shove Jacobs.
The next night on the June 2, 2020 episode of SmackDown, Undisputed Era would confront Charlie Haas and Shane Thorne letting them know that their reign as Tag Team Champions was coming to an end at Unforgiven. On the June 8, 2020 episode of Raw, Cole and Anderson would defeat Drew McIntyre and Finn Bálor; before defeating the team of WWE Champion, Tyler Breeze and Jimmy Jacobs on the June 15, 2020 episode of Raw. The following night on SmackDown, Undisputed Era would attack Shane Thorne after his match, before forcing him to watch as Anderson attacked Thorne's wife Nikki Cross only for Charlie Haas to make the save as Undisputed Era would escape through the crowd. At Unforgiven, Anderson and Cole would defeat Thorne and Haas to win the WWE Tag Team Championship for the first time both individually and as a team. With the win, Adam Cole became both the Twenty-fourth Triple Crown Champion as well as the Tenth Grand Slam Champion in WWE. A week later on the July 6, 2020 episode of Raw, Anderson and Cole defeated Dolph Ziggler & Andrade in a non-title match. Later that night both Anderson and Morgan managed to get married in the ring, it wasn't until after the wedding that Pastor William Eaver and Jimmy Jacobs ― whom were disguised as both the Minister and a Violinist respectively would ambush Anderson and the rest of Undisputed Era. After they began to be outnumbered, Johnny Gargano made his presence known making the save for Eaver and Jacobs, running off Undisputed Era.
On the July 13, 2020 episode of Raw, Cole and Anderson kept their winning streak going defeating the team of former Tag Team Champions Jimmy Jacobs and Seth Rollins. On the July 20, 2020 episode of Raw, Cole and Anderson's winning streak would come to an end after losing to Dolph Ziggler and Andrade after Cole was pinned after a Zig Zag/Superkick combo from Ziggler. After the match, Cole and Anderson would get into an argument with one another over the loss, needing to be separated by Fish and O'Reilly but not before Anderson appeared to leave the faction after removing his Undisputed Era armband. On the July 27, 2020 episode of Raw, Anderson and the rest of Undisputed Era would talk things out as him and Adam Cole would settle their differences as Cole would offer up his arm band to Jake as a peace offering. On the July 31, 2020 episode of SmackDown, Anderson would interject himself into the Hardcore Championship match between Heath Slater and Big E defeating them to win his fourth Hardcore Championship after interference from Undisputed Era. That same night Fish and O'Reilly would suffer a loss to Johnny Gargano and Pastor William Eaver, while Anderson & Cole would lose their Tag Team Championships to Jon Moxley & Karrion Kross, although not without controversy as Kross choked out Anderson whom wasn't the legal man in the match.
On the August 3rd, 2020 episode of Raw, it was revealed that the Big Show would be Johnny Gargano's fourth member of his team at SummerSlam, reciting his past history with Anderson. Later on, Anderson along with the rest of Undisputed Era would attack Big Show backstage, targeting his ankle it would then be revealed that Anderson would face Big Show a week later with the winner earning the War Games advantage for their team at SummerSlam, which Anderson would win. After the match Anderson would attack Big Show with a steel chair and a sledgehammer as Big Show would suffer a torn Achilles tendon and was revealed to be out of action for 4-6 months effectively taking him out of the match at SummerSlam and leaving Gargano without a fourth partner.
At SummerSlam, Team Gargano would defeat Undisputed Era after Adam Cole turned on Jake Anderson, hitting him with a Kendo stick which allowed Jimmy Jacobs to pick up the win. After the match Adam Cole would attack Anderson, turning face in the process and effectively leaving and imploding the Undisputed Era. On the September 7, 2020 episode of Raw, Cole would explain his actions before later in the night he was scheduled to team with Anderson, however the latter wouldn't show up for the match thus rendering it a Handicap match which Cole would lose and afterwards Anderson would attack Cole with a steel chair, following it up with a Brainbuster onto a chair. Anderson would later return and respond to Cole's disparaging remarks towards him and as it looked as though Anderson was walking into a 3 on 1 situation (Cole and O'Reilly sided with Cole) Fish and O'Reilly would turn on Adam Cole, attacking him as a three on one beatdown ensued. Anderson would then reveal that Roderick Strong was the newest member of Undisputed Era and seemingly replacing Adam Cole as Anderson would reveal that this was now his Undisputed Era.
On the September 14th, 2020 episode of Raw, Undisputed Era would again attack Cole, this time backstage severely injuring his shoulder. That same night Strong would defeat Dolph Ziggler in the WWE Championship #1 Contenders Tournament, advancing to the next round while Anderson teamed with Britt Baker to defeat Kenny Omega and Lacey Evans. Later that night they would interfere in Cole's Intercontinental Championship match but would fail to prevent him from winning the title. On the September 21, 2020 episode of Raw, Strong would lose his Semi-Final WWE Championship Tournament match to Randy Orton. Later that night, Anderson would come up short in his WWE Championship match against Kenny Omega after getting counted out from a distraction from Adam Cole who had taken out each member of Undisputed Era one by one throughout the night. On the September 25, 2020 episode of SmackDown, Kurt Angle revealed that Jon Moxley and Karrion Kross would defend their WWE Tag Team Championship against Anderson and Strong at No Mercy which they would lose. It would later be revealed that Kyle O'Reilly would sign an exclusive deal with NXT, leaving just Anderson, Fish and Strong on the main roster. At Halloween Havoc, Jake Anderson revealed that Undisputed Era was dead and had distanced himself from the group, saying that he was tired of carrying people on his back.
