Unforgiven (2020) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It will take place on June 28, 2020, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. It will be the tenth annual in WWE's production lineage for the Unforgiven event. It will feature talent from both the Raw and SmackDown brand.

Background[]

Unforgiven will feature professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that played out on WWE's primary television program, Raw. Wrestlers portrayed heels or faces as they followed a series of events that built tension, and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.

In May 2020 it was revealed by Triple H that the brand split would be returning and both Raw and SmackDown would have their own separate rosters. It was also revealed that the brand split would officially go into effect following the Unforgiven PPV and that leading up to it Superstars could appear on both shows to wrap up the current ongoing storylines.

After Liv Morgan won the WWE Goddess Championship on the May 11, 2020 episode of Raw, Ruby Riott would become the new number one contender and it was revealed that Riott would receive her title opportunity at Unforgiven against Morgan. It was also revealed that the winner of the ongoing Gold Experience Tournament would receive their title opportunity against Tyler Breeze at Unforgiven the same with the Women's #1 Contender tournament. It would be revealed by William Regal that Undisputed Era's Jake Anderson and Adam Cole would face the team of Roman Reigns and Andrade with the winners becoming the #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships with the title match happening at Unforgiven. On the June 8, 2020 episode of Raw, Charlotte would defeat Nikki Cross in the finals of the Raw Women's Championship Contenders Tournament earning herself an opportunity at Penelope Ford at Unforgiven. On the June 9th, 2020 episode of SmackDown, Enzo Amore, Kevin Owens and Sammy Guevara all won qualifying matches to become the first three participants in the Armageddon Hell in a Cell match to determine the first-ever WWE Universal Champion. That same night both Sasha Banks and Nixon Newell won qualifying matches to determine the participants in the SmackDown Women's Championship Six Pack Challenge.
