The WWE Cruiserweight Championship was a professional wrestling championship designed for lighter athletes.

Title history[]

The short-lived Cruiserweight Championship gave an opportunity for those whose agility and speed allowed them to contest for the gold at another level. It was here where the high-fliers separated their craft from the powerhouses and prestigious heavyweights. It was here was new-comers made their stomping ground, clearly letting the world know they were here, making their way to the top. Later, however, the Cruiserweight Championship was later re-christened the X-Division title.
