WWE NXT is the professional wrestling developmental branch for WWE, based in Winter Park, Florida. It was founded by Triple H (Paul Levesque). NXT will have a series of live special events broadcast on the WWE Network, comparable to main roster pay-per-view shows. NXT currently airs exclusively on the USA Network on Wednesday Nights.
Beginning in September 2020 it was announced that NXT would be returning on a trial basis going until the end of the year and depending on it's success would continue in 2021. The first episode of the rebooted NXT would take place on September 23rd, 2020 and would be headlined by Toni Storm and Kay Lee Ray. A week later on the September 30th, 2020 episode Triple H would reveal that Kane would be the General Manager of NXT going forward. This would last until the October 28th, 2020 episode as Kane would be removed as NXT General Manager and replaced by Sting who had been named General Manager by the Board of Directors and had been secretly pulling the strings in the background. After Sting was taken out by a mysterious assailant in early 2021, Jonathan Coachman would become the Interim NXT General Manager in his absence. It would later be revealed on the February 24, 2021 episode of NXT that Sting was no longer the General Manager of NXT and that Coachman would be taking over as GM. On the March 24, 2021 episode of NXT, Coachman was fired from his position as Interim General Manager and replaced permanently by Kurt Angle.
